Land Acknowledgment
With respect, I acknowledge that the land on which I live and work remains the ancestral and unceded homeland of Indigenous peoples. The Portland Metro area rests on the traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who have stewarded this land for generations along the Columbia River.
I honor the ongoing presence, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous communities living here today. I also acknowledge the devastating history of genocide, forced relocation, and assimilation that has harmed and continues to impact Indigenous peoples here and around the world. With gratitude, I recognize the Elders, past and present, who have carried the wisdom, culture, and care for this land.
